Projects
Business, institutions and individuals are generating and collecting data at an astonishing rate. This data could be harnessed for greater human understanding, as well as medical and business applications, but it is growing faster than our ability to comprehend it. The Center for Computational Learning Systems brings together world-class researchers in machine learning and data mining and focuses its efforts in the following areas: Bioinformatics, Human Learning and Cognition, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Security Systems, and Power. Here are some of the projects in the CCLS, in roughly reverse chronological order of when they began. · Columbia Learning System for Prioritization of Feeders for Long-Term Replacement Program for Cable and Splice Center of Excellence, Contract with Consolidated Edison, Senior Personnel: Roger Anderson, David Waltz, Albert Boulanger, Phil Long · Arabic Dialect Modeling. Senior Personnel: Owen Rambow, Nizar Habash. · Columbia Decision Support System for the MECC by the Summer of 2005, Contract with Consolidated Edison, Senior Personnel: Roger Anderson, David Waltz, Albert Boulanger, Phil Long · Machine learning approach to protein sequence comparison: discriminative, semi-supervised, scalable algorithms, NSF Grant EIA-0312706, Senior Personnel: Christina Leslie, William Stafford Noble, Jason Weston · GeneClass: Learning predictive models for gene regulatory response from high throughput genomic data, Senior Personnel: Christina Leslie, Yoav Freund, Chris Wiggins · Mass spectral protein sequencing using Machine Learning, Senior Personnel: Phil Long, Cliff Stein, Newman Sze, Wing-Kin Sung · Recognizing protein folds with discriminative learning, Senior Personnel: Christina Leslie, William Stafford Noble, Jason Weston · Concept Learning for Vision and Planning: Computational Basis for Cognition, NSF SGER Grant, Senior Personnel: David Waltz, Yoav Freund, Eric Baum · Rigorous Learning, NSF Grant CCR-0325463, Senior Personnel: Vladimir Vapnik, David Waltz, David Hessing, Eugene Ie, Alex Gammerman · Weighing Evidence without Using a Gold Standard, Senior Personnel: Phil Long, Rocco Servedio |
