Working with David Keith, University of Calgary, on Air Capture using sodium and calcium sorbents. The objective is to establish a detailed process design and identify critical economic and process concerns for further experimentation and cost analysis.

Acting as lead researcher on an 18-month research project to investigate the feasibility of a Zero Emission Cement Kiln. The work includes experimentation and computer modeling and will be completed by September 2007.

Engineering Consultant
Working as consultant to a start up company focused on developing CDM projects through the Kyoto Accord. Work includes carbon management and technology assessment for financing decisions and managing projects through regulatory bodies. Current projects include biomass power plants near Belem, Brazil and in Suriname as well as developing projects in Malaysia and India.

Engineer
Staff Engineer working on mining projects based out of the office. Work included preparation of bid documents and design of the site investigation for the 1.4 billion dollar Goro Nickel Project. Prepared mine site closure plans for the Kidd Mettalugical Division of Falconbridge and the Coldstream Mine Site, both in Northern Ontario.

Project Engineer
Member of design team completing work for the Antamina Copper Project, in Peru. Antamina was a $2.5 billion copper project run out of San Francisco. The tailings basin design team includes members from Canada, the USA, Chile, Peru, Brazil and Luxembourg. Completed engineering reports for geological, hydrological and computational aspects of the project, including the design report for the 232m high CFRD main dam, the 10th highest in the world, and side hill decant system with tunnel.

Engineer
Three years as alternating resident engineer responsible for the Quality Control/Quality Assurance program as it relates to dam construction for the second tailings basin at the Omai Gold mine in Guyana, South America. Work was under the supervision of several regulatory agencies as well as independent specialists.
Staff engineer whose assignments included: tailings dam design, diversion channel alignment and capacity calculations, tailings deposition planning and water balance calculations for Voisey Bay Nickel Mine, Musselwhite Gold Project, Stanrock Mine Closure as well as a variety of smaller projects.
Completed a project with the Landfill group designing a low permeability cap, and associated drainage works, for the East Riverside landfill in Windsor, Ontario. Worked as on site technician for the remediation of the Shell Oakville Research Center. Member of the Construction Material Testing group as on site quality control technician performing compaction, concrete and laboratory testing, footing and caisson inspection, and associated reporting.

As a member of the material science departments outreach team, it was our responsibility to enter high school environments to demonstrate engineering to students. We ran experiments and lead discussions around the engineering profession.

Teaching assistant for class of 50 students studying Climate Science and Hydrology. This course involved leading public administration students through the basic science of climate using experiments, laboratory reports and computer assignments.
