The lecture will be an introduction to the the New York State wholesale energy market with an emphasis on New York City. Topics will describe the existing electrical infrastructure, how the market functions and how power is priced. The lecture will be in the context of the benefits of waste to energy as a part of the New York City power plant portfolio mix. Fuel diversification and environmental impacts will be discussed.
