Levels of SWE Membership

1. Join the executive board

Currently, all of our executive board positions are full, but join SWE’s mailing list to be on the lookout for our Information Session in the spring that will detail the election procedure and introduce you to the board.

2. Become part of a Subcommittee

Joining a Subcommittee is an excellent way of becoming more involved in SWE. The purpose of the Subcommittees is to help each committee chair organize any particular event and to become more actively involved with the SWE Executive Board. Subcommittee members have the opportunity of working closely with corporations, alumni, the faculty and the University’s Student Development and Activities center.

3. Participate in the Big Sib Lil Sib Mentorship Program

The Little/Big Sister Program is one of the biggest SWE projects every year. The program pairs underclasspeople with upperclassperson mentors who act as guides for the underclasspeople during their first years at Columbia.  More importantly, the program is a great way to make new friends—many of whom you will undoubtedly run into in class and around Mudd on a weekly basis!

4. Sign-up for SWE’s Mailing List and Attend any Event

By signing up for SWE’s weekly Mailing List, you will be able to receive updates about SWE sponsored activities and events, as well as independent alumni, corporate, and community events and opportunities throughout campus. You do not have to attend any event, although we are sure that you would want to.

5. Participate in education outreach

This year's newest event is an education outreach program with Girl Scouts! We will welcome these young women to Columbia on Saturday, November 22nd, and show them why we love engineering.
