A Call for Medal Nominations
You are invited to nominate candidates for the
Egleston Medal, the highest award of the Columbia Engineering
School Alumni Association, and the Pupin Medal,
the prestigious award given by the School and the University,
sponsored by the Alumni Association.
Criteria for The Egleston Medal
The Egleston Medal is awarded to a living
alumnus/a of SEAS in recognition of distinguished engineering
achievement. The award is given for a notable application of an
engineering principle; the development of an industry, process,
technique, or material; or the furtherance of a specific branch of the
profession. It was established in 1939 to honor the memory of Thomas
Egleston, founder in 1864 of the Columbia College of Mines, from which
developed Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied
Science.
Criteria for The Pupin Medal
The Pupin Medal is awarded for "Service to
the Nation in Engineering, Science or Technology." To be eligible,
the candidate (1) must be living at the time of the recommendation;
(2) must be an engineer or scientist or possess an honorary or
graduate degree in science or engineering; (3) must have been
affiliated with Columbia University for at least one year either as an
enrolled student, a faculty member, or a University administrator.

for the Pupin and Egleston Medals are accepted at any time and will be
presented to the respective committees for consideration at their next
meeting.
